On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Dallas Police Department arrested 31-year-old Trakari Brown in connection with a series of domestic violence incidents involving two separate victims. Brown now faces multiple felony charges, including Continuous Violence Against the Family and Stalking.
The investigation began in June 2025, when a victim contacted the Dallas Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit to report being repeatedly stalked by Brown. The victim stated that Brown, with whom they had a known prior relationship, had followed them on several occasions. During one of these encounters, Brown allegedly struck the victim with a brick. The case was assigned to detectives, who soon learned that a separate law enforcement agency in the Dallas area was also actively investigating Brown for similar acts of domestic violence involving the same victim.
On July 1 at approximately 12:00 a.m., Dallas police received another report involving Brown. In this case, Brown allegedly forced his way into a different victim’s residence by kicking in the front door. Once inside, Brown reportedly assaulted the victim, hitting them multiple times, and causing property damage during the altercation. Brown then stole the victim’s wallet and car keys before fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle. Investigators confirmed that Brown and the second victim also had a known prior relationship.
Later that same day, around 3:45 p.m., officers with the Central Crime Response Team (CRT) and the Fugitive Unit located the stolen vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Brown was taken into custody without incident.
Brown was charged with the following:
-
Continuous Violence Against the Family (Third-Degree Felony)
-
Stalking (Third-Degree Felony)
-
Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Assault
-
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
-
Misdemeanor and felony warrants issued by another agency
The ongoing investigations are being documented under Dallas Police case numbers 089171-2025 and 082226-2025.
Assistant Chief Teena Schultz praised the coordinated efforts of officers and detectives involved in the arrest. “I am grateful to the Dallas Police officers and detectives who worked tirelessly to investigate these family violence offenses — some of the most sensitive cases we handle. I also commend the victims who had the courage to come forward; speaking out is often the hardest and most crucial step in an investigation like this.”
Brown is currently being held in custody. His bond amount and additional charges, if any, will be determined as the investigations progress.
