GARLAND, TX – An adult male who was arrested in Garland on Thursday, July 17, after being found nude in public, has died after suffering a medical emergency while in custody.
Garland Police officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Marketplace Drive at approximately 3:00 p.m. following multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a completely nude man in a public area.
Upon arrival, officers located the individual outside a restaurant. When officers attempted to verbally engage with him, he was uncooperative. As officers tried to detain him, the man began to fight and speak incoherently. Officers were eventually able to take him into custody.
Shortly after his apprehension, the individual experienced a medical emergency. Garland Fire Department paramedics responded, provided medical aid, and transported him to a local hospital.
On Friday, July 18, just after 1:00 p.m., hospital staff notified investigators that the man had been pronounced deceased.
An independent investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct a full examination and release the official cause of death.
The identity of the individual is not being released at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
