DESOTO, TX — In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at approximately 1:45 a.m., DeSoto Police officers responded to a burglary in progress at a convenience store in the 1500 block of N. Hampton Road.
A witness reported seeing a shirtless male suspect throw a large rock through the front door of the closed business, then enter and steal several items before fleeing on foot. The caller kept visual contact with the suspect and provided updates to dispatchers.
Within two minutes of being dispatched, officers arrived on scene and located the suspect, identified as Jerrade Dewayne Harris of Dallas, across the street from the store. Officers recovered stolen merchandise from the area, including cartons of cigarettes, alcohol, sunglasses, and other goods.
DeSoto detectives reviewed surveillance footage showing Harris using a large rock to break into the store and rummaging through merchandise behind the counter.
Harris was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Building, a State Jail Felony.
