Armed Suspect Shot by Dallas Police After Gunfire and Chase

On July 27, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Dallas Police officers working off-duty in uniform responded to a gunshot heard near the 10700 block of Finnell Street in Northwest Dallas.

According to preliminary reports, officers located a suspect and victim fighting in a parking lot. The suspect was holding a firearm. Officers issued loud verbal commands for the suspect to drop the weapon, but he refused and fled the scene on foot.

Additional officers encountered the suspect still armed. After multiple commands to disarm were ignored, one officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect. Officers rendered emergency aid until Dallas Fire Rescue transported the suspect to a nearby hospital. His injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

The victim, who had been shot in the face, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.

No officers were injured during the incident.

The Office of Community Police Oversight and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office were both notified and have launched independent investigations.

The case remains under active investigation and is being documented under case numbers 106726-2025 and 106771-2025.
