Jugging Suspect Arrested Following Bank Stakeout and Foot Chase in Richardson

RICHARDSON, TX – A man suspected of involvement in a jugging incident was arrested in June following quick action by Richardson Police officers and detectives.

The incident began when Officer Savage responded to a report of a vehicle burglary. The victim had just visited a local bank prior to the break-in. During the investigation, Officer Savage identified the suspect’s vehicle.

The following day, the same vehicle was seen parked outside the same bank, indicating the suspect may have been preparing for another theft. As officers approached, the suspect fled in his vehicle, struck a patrol car, and led officers on a short pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle became disabled, and he fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.

Police quickly set up a perimeter and located the suspect hiding between two homes. After a brief foot chase, the man was taken into custody without further incident.

The case involved a tactic known as “jugging,” in which suspects monitor bank customers and follow individuals believed to be carrying large amounts of cash. Once the target leaves the bank, suspects often wait until cash is left unattended in a vehicle before breaking in and stealing it.

The Richardson Police Department reminds residents to stay alert when making cash withdrawals and to avoid leaving money in unattended vehicles.
