GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that occurred early Friday morning, August 1st, on Interstate 30 westbound at MacArthur Boulevard.
At approximately 1:55 a.m., a Chrysler passenger vehicle became disabled in the right lane of traffic. Moments later, it was struck from behind by a Ford F-150. The impact left the Chrysler driver fatally injured and the Ford disabled.
According to investigators, the driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot after the crash. Grand Prairie officers conducted a search of the surrounding area and located the individual, who was placed under arrest. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chrysler was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grand Prairie Fire Department medics. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once next of kin have been notified.
The driver of the Ford now faces charges of Collision Involving Death and Intoxication Manslaughter. The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
