Eight Dogs Rescued from Suspected Dog Fighting Operation in Southeast Dallas

Arrested: Gerald Brooks

DALLAS, TX – On July 18, 2025, Dallas Police Animal Cruelty Unit detectives, working with Dallas Animal Services (DAS) and Operation Kindness, executed search warrants at three properties in Southeast Dallas, rescuing eight dogs from what investigators described as a dog fighting environment.

The investigation led officers with the Dallas Police K9 Unit and Southeast Crime Response Team (CRT) to the properties, where they found the dogs cruelly confined and neglected. Four puppies were found emaciated and in need of immediate medical attention.

Detectives also recovered evidence consistent with organized dog fighting activity.

Gerald Brooks, 53, was arrested and charged with five counts of Dog Fighting, a Class A misdemeanor.

The dogs are now in the care of DAS and Operation Kindness as the investigation continues.
