WACO, TX – The Waco Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Monday, August 4, after an officer discharged his weapon at an armed suspect. No one was injured, and two suspects are now in custody.
The incident began at 8:39 p.m. when Waco Police officers responded to a robbery in the 2000 block of S. 14th Street. A search for two suspects began, and 20-year-old David Rodriguez was located and taken into custody with charges pending.
Shortly after, officers located the second suspect, 18-year-old Jakari Jordan, in the 100 block of Lyndon Circle. According to police, Jordan reportedly pointed a firearm at an officer, who then fired his duty weapon at him. Jordan fled on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit. The weapon was recovered, and Jordan was charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, with additional charges pending.
The Waco Police Department confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
