ALEDO, Texas — In a historic step for the City of Aledo, Carol L. Riddle was officially sworn in Wednesday as the city’s first-ever chief of police, marking the official launch of the Aledo Police Department.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Aledo Community Center and drew a standing-room-only crowd of residents, city leaders, law enforcement partners, and community supporters. Riddle took the oath of office and pledged to serve the citizens of Aledo with “honor, courage, and transparency.”
“This is an exciting time for the City of Aledo and its residents,” Riddle said. “Establishing a new police department is a significant step in the city’s continued growth, and I’m honored to be part of it. While I know there will be challenges ahead, I’m ready to face them and look forward to serving this community as we build a department the city can be proud of."
Riddle brings over 25 years of law enforcement experience, including time as deputy chief with the Arlington Police Department and as chief of police for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She is known for her collaborative leadership style and her commitment to strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Located in Parker County, the City of Aledo has an estimated population of 5,500 and is growing steadily as new residential communities are developed. Until now, Aledo relied on the Parker County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement services. The establishment of its own police department marks a significant change in how public safety is handled locally.
“Today, Aledo takes another step toward a brighter future,” said Mayor Shane Davis. “With Chief Riddle at the helm, our new police department begins with strong leadership, rich experience and a clear commitment to community-first policing.”
The formation of the Aledo Police Department reflects the city’s investment in long-term infrastructure, public safety, and local control as it enters a new era of growth and development.
