On Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Garland Police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of East I-30 Highway following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim inside the apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Garland paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
Detectives determined that the male, identified as the ex-boyfriend of a female resident at the apartment, had unlawfully entered the residence without the woman’s consent. During the ensuing confrontation, the female resident discharged a firearm, striking the male.
Investigators confirmed that the two had previously lived together and shared a tumultuous history marked by multiple disturbances. The female had reported several incidents to the Garland Police Department over recent months. These reports led to two arrests of the male on charges including assault family violence and stalking.
The female resident is cooperating fully with investigators. At this time, no charges have been filed, as detectives continue to gather evidence and evaluate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Garland Police Department is withholding the identities of those involved pending further investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Garland Police Department at 972-485-4840. The investigation remains active.
