Trooper Injured in Struggle After Pickup Stop Near Waxahachie High School

ELLIS COUNTY, Texas – On Friday, August 15, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a Texas State Trooper attempted to stop a red GMC pickup truck on U.S. 287 near Black Champ Road in Ellis County after observing a traffic violation.

As the Trooper initiated the stop, the driver slowed down and the right front passenger fled north on foot. The pickup came to a stop near Waxahachie High School, where the Trooper attempted to arrest the driver.

The driver resisted arrest, and during the struggle, the Trooper sustained minor injuries. Despite the resistance, the Trooper was able to place the driver in custody.

The driver was identified as 28-year-old Jose Luis Molina of Fort Worth. Molina was booked into the Ellis County Jail on charges of Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana.

The passenger who fled the vehicle has not been identified. The Trooper was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
