Fort Worth Police South Division Headquarters Renamed in Honor Fallen Officer

Sgt. Billy Randolph

FORT WORTH, Texas—The Fort Worth City Council has approved a resolution to rename the Fort Worth Police Department's (FWPD) South Patrol Division to the Billy Randolph South Patrol Division Headquarters.

The resolution, approved at Tuesday's City Council meeting, honors Sgt. Billy Randolph for his 30 years of service, leadership, and sacrifice. The renaming was requested by both the City Manager’s Office and the FWPD.

Sgt. Randolph was a U.S. Air Force veteran who began his career with the FWPD in 1995. On August 12, 2024, he was tragically struck and killed while supervising a crash scene on Interstate 35. A vehicle drove the wrong way through barricades and hit him. The driver was later apprehended and charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Sgt. Randolph was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

According to the FWPD, Sgt. Randolph was a steadfast leader and a respected mentor within the police department and the community. The newly named facility is located at 3501 W. Risinger Road, and the resolution takes effect immediately.
