DALLAS, Texas — A tip from a concerned citizen led Dallas police to a major drug bust earlier this week, resulting in the seizure of more than 160 kilograms of methamphetamine, a handgun, and roughly $100,000 in cash.
According to the Dallas Police Department, the discovery was made on October 1, 2025, when Southwest Patrol CRT/Deployment officers followed up on information from a community tip about possible drug trafficking in the 4300 block of Communications Drive.
Officers conducted a traffic stop during the investigation and uncovered a large quantity of narcotics concealed in the vehicle, along with cash and a firearm. In total, police seized 162 kilograms of methamphetamine, marking one of the department’s larger drug recoveries this year.
One suspect was detained at the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Deputy Chief Kylee Hawks, who oversees the South Patrol Group, commended both the officers and the community member who came forward with information.
“Getting any amount of drugs off the street is a win, and getting more than 160 kilos of meth off the street is a major success,” Hawks said. “Knowing this came from a tip means people want to help us make a difference in their community.”
Police say the case underscores the importance of community involvement in fighting crime and encourages residents to continue reporting suspicious activity.
