Ellis County, Texas – The Ellis County Sheriff's Office (ECSO), in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (DEA-HIDTA) Group 3, announced the results of a two-and-a-half-year narcotics investigation that began following an overdose in Ellis County.
During the investigation, ECSO and federal agents executed multiple search warrants at residences and businesses throughout Ellis County and surrounding areas. Their coordinated efforts led to the arrest of 12 individuals on narcotics-related offenses and the recovery of approximately 90 kilograms of cocaine, multiple weapons, and large amounts of U.S. currency linked to drug trafficking.
Sheriff Brad Norman said, "This case is an example of what can be accomplished when local and federal agencies work side by side. Our Special Investigative Unit, along with our federal partners, have removed a significant number of dangerous drugs from our community. These arrests represent our ongoing commitment to pursue those responsible for distributing narcotics that devastate lives and families in Ellis County."
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Certain details are being withheld due to the active nature of the case.
The Ellis County Sheriff's Office thanked the DEA-HIDTA Group 3, Ennis Police Department, Midlothian Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, Cedar Hill Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, Navarro County Sheriff's Office, and all other participating agencies for their dedication and cooperation throughout the investigation.
