Irving, Texas. April 9, 2013 –
Ariana Garcia went 2-3, helping Irving to an 8-7 victory over Grapevine on Friday at Irving High. The game was tied at 6 after regulation. In the top of the eighth Grapevine added a score that was matched by Irving in the bottom of the inning. Then in the ninth, Goodman held Grapevine. In the bottom of the ninth Irving was able to score the game winnng score on a single by Melissa Hantleman.
McKensie Goodman recorded the win for Irving. It was her 16th win on the year. She struck out three, walked one and surrendered 10 hits. The difference in the game was the 8 walks given up by Grapevine. These walks enabled Irving to overcome their 8 fielding errors and get the win.
The Lady Tigers are in the playoff picture with a tie with Grapevine for third in the District 6 5A race. They face Colleyville Heritage next Tuesday night at Tiger field. A victory over Heritage could move them into a tie for 2nd with Heritage and drop Grapevine into fourth.
