TexasFest 2015 Announces Volunteer Leadership of Weinzirl, Elder

Carolyn Weinzirl, a retired educator and civic volunteer, is the TexasFest 2015 Chairperson. She’s joined by Irving resident and businessman Sam Elder, who will serve as sponsorship chair for the April 18, 2015 gala.

“I am excited to announce our theme this year as ‘Texas Time Machine’, “says Weinzirl.  “Guests can expect a terrific time at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Irving with Texas style cuisine, a fabulous silent and live auction, and nonstop dancing to the music of the very talented Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes.”

Named as one of the Top 10 Party Bands in the U.S, their show captures the sounds, look and the fun of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes combine world-class vocals, stunning costumes, precision choreography, a blast-from-the-past repertoire and hilarious comedy into a dynamic show.

Carolyn is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. She and her husband, Chris, moved to Dallas three years ago and now reside in Las Colinas. Carolyn was looking for volunteer opportunities that support the importance of health and family assistance and Irving Healthcare Foundation fit the bill. She was a member of and then chaired the Item Solicitation Committee for TexasFest in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Sponsorship opportunities that offer full or partial tax-deductible benefits begin at $600 more information is available at www.healthyirving.org.  “We are encouraging our sponsors to commit early this year,” says Sponsorship Chair Sam Elder.  “We expect to sell out and no one should miss out on this great event!”

In its 36rd year, TexasFest is a tradition for the Irving community as the annual fundraising gala for the Irving Healthcare Foundation (IHF).  Founded in 1977, IHF’s mission is to make people healthier by awarding funds raised and by encouraging volunteer service to worthy nonprofit organizations that provide healthcare or medical services in Irving. Toward that goal, IHF has granted more than $37 million since its founding. Baylor Medical Center at Irving, the city’s only nonprofit hospital, is IHF’s primary beneficiary. Other recipients include the Irving Community Clinic; Our Children’s House at Baylor in Irving; Irving’s Childhood Obesity Task Force; and Canine Companions for Independence-Kinkeade Campus, a new assistance-dog training facility that will be built in North Irving.  More information about TexasFest and IHF is available at www.healthyirving.org.
