The Irving ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) program celebrated its successes during the annual Celebration of Excellence held March 4 at Singley Academy. Students from all of Irving ISD’s CTE programs displayed their work in an exhibit, which was followed by a luncheon (catered by CTE culinary arts students and served by CTE hospitality students) and presentation. During the presentation, various s students shared their experience in CTE programs. Photos from this event are posted on the district’s Photo Gallery.
Nimitz High School Lead Counselor Valerie Roper was named Outstanding Counselor for “showing a true interest in CTE and always putting the students first.” The CTE staff also awarded the following superlative recognitions to partners of the program:
- Signature Award – City of Irving, represented by Ryan Adams and Assistant Police Chief Jeff Spivey
- Business Partner of the Year – iFratelli, represented by owner David Cole;
- Non-Profit Partner of the Year – InterLink, represented by Candy Slocum
- Post Secondary Partner of the Year – Dallas County Community College District, represented by chancellor Dr. Joe May
