Irving ISD Inducts Second Cohort of Science Fellows

Eight Irving ISD teachers were inducted into Cohort 2 of the Wipro Science Education Fellowship at the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNTD) earlier this month. They include (back row from left) Tabitha Moreno, Schulze Elementary School; Juan Morel, Singley Academy; Sarah Stricklin, MacArthur High School; Chris Dazer, Irving ISD director of science discovery education; Julia Glowacki, Travis Middle School; Tracey Craft, Barton Elementary School; Melanie Meeks, Farine Elementary School; Rocio Avila, Barton Elementary School; and Ana Belmonte, Schulze Elementary School. These fellows were selected from a pool of applicants from five school districts. In addition to completing coursework at UNTD, teachers will also work with informal science institutions such as the Perot Museum, Dallas Zoo, Dallas Arboretum and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
