Irving to Hold Full-Scale Public Safety Training Exercise

The City of Irving's Office of Emergency Management, Irving Police and the Irving Fire Departments will hold a full-scale emergency training exercise from 7 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, March 3rd.

The training exercise will take place at the Toyota Music Factory in Las Colinas.

While only Irving public safety officials will respond to the event, other North Texas public safety officials will observe for training purposes.

"With our drive to train for all circumstances, Irving is pleased to host a large-scale mock emergency event," Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer said.  "Toyota Music Factory is centrally located and able to accomodate an exercise of this scope."

Apprximately 250 people will participate in the exercise.

The city will close Las Colinas Boulevard between Fuller and the Irving Convention Center from 7 am to noon March 3rd.  Fuller street will be closed from 6 am to 1 pm that day.  Digital signs will alert passersby to the road closures and mock event.

People are asked not to call 911, unless they need to report an emergency unrelated to the exercise.
