Dallas County has declared a disaster for public health and issued an order banning mass gatherings of 500 or greater. The county also strongly discourages gatherings of 250 or more people, as well as strongly discouraging gatherings of 10+ people of high-risk groups, such as the elderly and those with chronic conditions. This declaration and order will be in place beginning 11 a.m. March 13 and will remain in effect through 11 a.m. March 20. In addition to the order on mass gatherings, the county emphasizes the importance to maintain a social distance of 6 feet.
Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer also signed a Disaster Declaration for Public Health and a mass gathering order in tandem with the county’s declaration and order. The city will move forward with its contingency planning in accordance with the county order.

Three important notes on the mass gatherings order:
- Gatherings with more than 500 people are prohibited.
- Gatherings with more than 250 people are strongly discouraged.
- For the vulnerable population which includes those 60 years of age and older, don't go to gatherings of 10 people or more.
