A 19-year-old Frisco man, Antwain Williams, was arrested after allegedly stabbing a Lyft driver and stealing his vehicle on Monday, December 16, 2024. The violent incident occurred at approximately 5:44 p.m. at the Legends at Legacy apartment complex, located at 3700 Legacy Drive. When Frisco Police arrived at the scene, they found the victim, whose identity has not been released, in the parking lot suffering from a deep laceration to the neck. Despite his critical injuries, the victim was able to inform officers that he had been attacked by a customer, who then stole his vehicle.
According to the victim, after dropping off a client at the complex, he was approached by a man who appeared to be a customer. The suspect, later identified as Williams, became violent during the ride and attacked the driver, stabbing him before taking off in the Lyft driver’s vehicle. The victim was able to give a brief description of the suspect before he was rushed to the hospital by Frisco Fire Department personnel.
Frisco Police Detectives, who responded to the scene and began their investigation, were able to identify Williams and gathered further details regarding his whereabouts. Around 9:00 p.m., officers patrolling the area near the intersection of Highway 423 and 380 spotted the stolen vehicle. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Williams fled the scene at a high rate of speed, initiating a pursuit. The vehicle was last seen near 423 and Rockhill, and the chase was momentarily lost. However, with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Texas Department of Public Safety, Prosper Police Department, Little Elm Police Department, Celina Police Department, and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was located and apprehended after a second pursuit and foot chase.
Williams was charged with Aggravated Robbery (first-degree felony), Evading Arrest or Detention with a vehicle (state jail felony), and Evading Arrest or Detention on foot (Class A misdemeanor). Additionally, he was found to have an outstanding warrant for Sexual Performance by a Child, a first-degree felony.
Thanks to the swift response from law enforcement officers, the victim’s life was saved. He was initially reported to be in critical condition, but medical staff at the hospital have since stabilized him. "We are very fortunate for the quick and skilled response of our officers, members of the Frisco Fire Department, and the hospital’s medical team which clearly saved the life of this victim," said Frisco Police Chief David Shilson.
