Harold Lavance Thompson III, 23, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Gabriella Gonzalez, after a jury found him guilty on February 3, 2025. The tragic incident occurred on May 10, 2023, in the parking lot of a Shell Gas Station located on Keeneland Parkway and Walton Walker Freeway in Dallas.
Surveillance video captured the defendant and victim arguing as they walked from a nearby apartment complex to the gas station. The argument escalated when Thompson placed Gonzalez in a headlock before shooting her in the head. As she fell to the ground, he fired two more shots, killing her in broad daylight. Tragically, the victim's sister drove by the scene just seconds before the shooting occurred.
Thompson fled the scene wearing a mask and gloves but was later apprehended at a nearby apartment by Dallas police. Gonzalez, a mother of three young children, died at the scene.
The victim had previously discussed her decision to terminate her pregnancy with Thompson, which investigators believe may have contributed to the altercation. Following his conviction, Thompson was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
