Glenn Beck to Broadcast from The Studios at Las Colinas

The City of Irving is pleased to welcome Glenn Beck and his multi-media production company, Mercury Radio Arts, to the community. This week, the national political pundit selected The Studios at Las Colinas as the production site for GBTV, a live HD Video network featuring a two-hour daily program and a variety of news, documentaries, reality and behind-the-scenes shows.

“Glenn Beck is a highly influential media figure who is opening political discussions to the third-largest radio audience in the nation. The national exposure for our city and the potential economic impact is significant,” said Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne. “We welcome Mr. Beck and his audience to Irving, and look forward to working with him for many years.”

GBTV programming from the Las Colinas TV and radio studio will debut in January, 2012. The studio will include a theater with seating for up to 500 audience members for program recordings, speeches, lectures, tour shows and concerts.

Beck’s decision to move his studio from Manhattan to Irving underscores the City’s highly attractive business attributes. Earlier this year, Irving was ranked by Bloomberg BusinessWeek as one of “America’s Top 50 Best Cities.” The ranking was based on the City’s central location in the Metroplex, its wide range of entertainment and recreational options, and its low crime rate. The success of the 12,000-acre, master-planned Las Colinas Urban Center, which hosts six FORTUNE 500 corporate headquarters, also contributed to the Bloomberg BusinessWeek ranking.

Prior to its lease with Mercury Radio Arts for GBTV, The Studios at Las Colinas hosted the production of critically-acclaimed television programs such as Lone Star, Prison Break and The Deep End. Award-winning films such as JFK, Silkwood, Born on the 4th of July, and Robocop were also filmed at the studio.
