Garland Officer Shot, Suspect Killed in Exchange of Gunfire

A Garland Police officer was shot and injured late last night after responding to a report of gunfire in the 100 block of W. Wanda Drive. The suspect was later killed in an exchange of gunfire with responding officers.  

At approximately midnight, officers received a report of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, the suspect shot at the patrol car, hitting the officer inside. 

The injured officer was able to retreat and seek medical attention. The Garland Police Department reports he is in stable condition.  

Additional officers arrived on the scene and located the suspect near a residence. Shots were exchanged, and the suspect was struck and killed.  

The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
