UPDATE: The victim in this case has been identified as 40-year-old James Brown, Jr. Dallas Police arrested Dequnta Shannon, 35, in connection with this case. He is charged with Capital Murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Dallas police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 5300 block of Dimple Jackson Street on February 28, 2025.
At approximately 12:35 a.m., officers responded to a shooting call and found the victim with a gunshot wound at the location. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the victim to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm the victim’s identity.
