On Friday, March 7, 2025, just before 6:30 p.m., Garland Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of West Kingsley Road.
Upon arrival, officers found two individuals inside an apartment with apparent gunshot wounds. A female victim was transported to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery and remains in the ICU. A male suspect, identified as 20-year-old Angel Vargas-Martinez, was found deceased at the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The preliminary investigation indicates Vargas-Martinez entered the female’s apartment and shot her before turning the weapon on himself. Investigators believe Vargas-Martinez had a connection to the victim’s family and are working to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
