The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a homicide following a fatal shooting at Sandy Oaks Apartments on Friday morning.
At approximately 10:45 a.m. on March 7, 2025, officers responded to a shooting call in the 1500 block of Sandy Lane in East Fort Worth. Upon arrival, officers located a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.
Investigators determined that the victim, identified as 47-year-old Corey Urenll Sanders, had been involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect before being shot multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Shortly after the shooting, officers located a vehicle matching the suspect’s description and initiated a pursuit. The driver was taken into custody.
Sanders was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has ruled his death a homicide.
Investigators are working to determine the involvement of the driver in custody. The case remains under investigation.
