City of Irving shifts to Stage 3 Water Restrictions

Beginning Jan. 1, Irving officials will enforce Stage 3 water restrictions as part of the city’s drought contingency plan. The new restrictions permit Irving water customers to irrigate once per week on designated days according to the street number address.

  • Residential watering:
    • Even-numbered addresses may water on Saturday only
    • Odd-numbered addresses may water on Sunday only
  • Industrial, commercial and multifamily watering:
    • Even-numbered addresses may water on Tuesday only
    • Odd-numbered addresses may water on Wednesday only
  • No irrigation may occur Monday, Thursday or Friday
  • No watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on any day
  • Building foundations, trees and landscaping may be watered by hand-held hose, soaker hose, bucket or drip irrigation for a maximum of two hours on the designated watering day

While Stage 3 restrictions are in effect, residents may wash their cars at home on designated watering days and restaurants are being asked to provide water to patrons only by request. Residents or businesses observed violating the Stage 3 irrigation restrictions are subject to a warning from Code Enforcement or Water Utilities staff. After the initial warning, offenders will receive a fine of up to $2,000.

Cooperation with the restrictions will help ensure water is available for domestic use, sanitation and fire protection. For more information, visit www.cityofirving.org or call (972) 721-2281.
