Fort Worth Police Shoot at Restaurant Owner in Burglary Call Near Meacham Airport

The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early on March 12, 2025.

At approximately 3:50 a.m., officers responded to a commercial burglar alarm at a restaurant in the 1100 block of Terminal Road near Meacham Airport.  Although police did not specify the name of the restaurant, the only one in that area is Taqueria Ruby.

The alarm indicated an open door at the business, prompting officers to check for any signs of forced entry.

Upon arrival at approximately 3:57 a.m., officers began surveying the restaurant's perimeter. While inspecting the back of the building, officers observed a man holding a gun in his hand. Officers issued verbal commands for the man to show his hands, but he did not immediately comply.

Recognizing the potential threat, one officer discharged his duty weapon at the man. The shot did not strike the individual, who then complied with the officers' commands and was taken into custody. It was later determined that the man was the restaurant owner, and he was subsequently released.

Detectives discovered that the restaurant and a nearby storage area had been broken into. No injuries were reported, and no arrests were made.

The Major Case Unit, along with the Internal Affairs Division, is conducting a thorough investigation, as is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings.
