Telehealth Abortion Provider Confirms It Will Not Operate in Texas Due to State Laws

As access to reproductive healthcare continues to shift across the U.S., SameDayAbortionPills.com has confirmed that it will not provide telehealth abortion services to patients in Texas due to the state’s restrictive laws.

Texas has some of the nation’s strictest abortion regulations, including a ban on medication abortion via telehealth and mail-order prescriptions. Under current law, abortion pills cannot be prescribed or dispensed remotely, requiring in-person visits to a provider where abortion remains legally restricted.

A spokesperson for SameDayAbortionPills.com emphasized that while the platform enables same-day prescription fulfillment at CVS and Walgreens in other states, it cannot operate in Texas due to these legal barriers.

Shifting Abortion Access Nationwide

While major pharmacy chains like CVS and Walgreens have begun dispensing mifepristone, the FDA-approved abortion pill, in select states, Texas is not among them. The Lone Star State’s laws override federal allowances, meaning that even pharmacy-based access remains unavailable.

However, patients in states where medication abortion remains legal may now obtain prescriptions via telehealth consultations and pick up their medication the same day at participating pharmacies—a major shift from traditional mail-order services.

Alternative Resources for Texas Residents

For Texans seeking information about reproductive healthcare options, organizations like Planned Parenthood provide guidance within the constraints of Texas law. However, patients must be aware of state-specific restrictions before seeking care.
