Irving Woman Undergoes First Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement

A 52-year-old Irving woman has become the first patient to receive a total knee replacement using a new robotic-assisted surgery system at Medical City Las Colinas. The advanced system is designed to improve precision, reduce recovery time, and minimize potential complications, aligning with the growing industry trend toward robotic-assisted procedures.

The new system offers several benefits, including enhanced implant placement accuracy, which may improve joint function and longevity. It also reduces tissue trauma by making more precise bone cuts, potentially leading to less post-surgery pain and swelling. Some procedures can be performed with smaller incisions, lowering infection risk and resulting in less scarring.

“This enhanced technology allows Medical City Las Colinas to uphold our commitment to offering the most innovative care,” said Christina Mathis, CEO of Medical City Las Colinas. “It’s another reason why our community turns to Medical City Las Colinas as the destination of choice for orthopedic excellence.”

Medical City Las Colinas now has four robotic-assisted surgery systems dedicated to orthopedic procedures, enhancing individualized treatment options for patients recovering from injuries or illnesses.  Learn more about the orthopedic services.
