UPDATE: On March 27, 2025, a Juvenile suspect was arrested in connection with this offense and taken to Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center charged with Murder. The name of the suspect will not be released due to their age.

A 17-year-old male has died from gunshot wounds after being found in a vehicle following a crash on E. Overton Road. The Dallas Police Department responded to the scene on March 23, 2025, at about 5:30 p.m., where officers discovered Casey Amar Smith, who had suffered gunshot injuries.
Smith was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
The investigation revealed that Smith was shot in the 3500 block of Ramona Avenue in Cedar Crest before driving himself to the 1500 block of E. Overton Road, where his car crashed into a fence.
The case is still under investigation, and detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
