Zeric Darrell Jackson, 38, has been sentenced to 80 years in prison for the murder of 39-year-old Brian Demond Dillard.
Jackson, who was released from prison and placed on parole in 2022, was convicted of murder on March 20, 2025.
The case stemmed from an incident on November 3, 2022, when Jackson became enraged after learning his girlfriend was spending time with Dillard. Jackson left his job at Walmart, followed his girlfriend and Dillard, and then went to his girlfriend's apartment on Audelia Road to wait for them.
When Dillard arrived and opened the door, Jackson shot and killed him. He then returned to work. Jackson was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the murder.
The jury, recognizing Jackson's dangerousness, sentenced him to 80 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The prosecution team included Lead Prosecutor Dimitri Anagnostis, Pick Prosecutor Leah Dintino, and DA Investigators Reggie Woods and John Schingle. The Dallas Police Department conducted the investigation.
