Dallas Man Convicted for Selling Machinegun Conversion Devices on Instagram

Corey Wilson, 20, was convicted on Thursday, March 27, 2025, for possession of an unregistered machinegun, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham announced.

Senior United States District Judge Barbara M. G. Lynn presided over the case, which involved Wilson selling machinegun conversion devices on Instagram. These devices, when installed in an AR-platform rifle, enable fully automatic fire.

Undercover ATF agents contacted Wilson and purchased six devices on May 30, 2023, and twenty more on June 6, 2023. Wilson explained how to “activate” the devices and demonstrated their installation. The transactions took place within the Project Safe Neighborhood area of Northeast Dallas.

Wilson faces up to ten years in federal prison on each count.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives’ Dallas Field Division investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Robert Withers, Walt Junker, and Elise Aldendifer are prosecuting.
