A 57-year-old San Angelo man has been sentenced to 50 years in federal prison for impersonating a child online and coercing a 9-year-old girl into creating child sexual abuse material. Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham announced the sentence.
James Wilson was sentenced on Tuesday to 600 months (50 years) in federal prison by U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix. Wilson had pleaded guilty in December 2024 to Production of Child Pornography and Transportation of Child Pornography, following an indictment in September. In addition to the prison term, Judge Hendrix ordered Wilson to pay $106,500 in restitution.
According to court documents, Wilson used a social media application to persuade a 9-year-old victim to produce at least two videos depicting her engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Wilson also admitted to using the same application to transport multiple child pornography videos over the internet. Furthermore, he confessed to possessing and transporting a video featuring a 10-year-old female child in sexually explicit acts.
Wilson admitted to law enforcement that he had been viewing and downloading child pornography for several years. His extensive collection included videos from numerous identified child pornography series. Minor victims from 13 of these series requested restitution due to the trauma they endured as a result of their abuse. The Court granted these requests, awarding a total of $106,500 in restitution to the victims.
The investigation was a joint effort by the FBI’s Dallas Field Division – San Angelo Resident Agency and the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Whitney Ohlhausen prosecuted the case.
