'Aggravated Assault Mass Shooting' Statute Used in Sentencing of Fort Worth Drive-By Shooter

Patrick Biscoe

Patrick Biscoe, 20, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault-mass shooting in a Tarrant County courtroom on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Biscoe's sentencing falls under a new Texas law, passed in 2023, that allows multiple aggravated assault offenses committed during the same shooting incident to be covered under a single charge. Biscoe and his codefendant, Allan Gilbert, were among the first individuals to be charged under this statute.

The crime occurred on May 1, 2024, when Biscoe and four other individuals conducted a drive-by shooting in the Western Hills North area of Fort Worth, along Las Vegas Trail. Biscoe was identified as one of the shooters who fired multiple rounds into a group at an apartment complex, injuring six people ranging in age from 3 to 19 years old.

During the court proceedings, the mother of one of the victims addressed Biscoe, stating, "You and four others didn't just harm bodies that day; you stole innocence, peace, and safety from children who now carry the weight of that moment with them every single day."

Biscoe is a documented member of the Eastwood Piru Criminal Street Gang. The Fort Worth Police Department investigated the case, and the prosecution was handled by ADA Danielle Wojciak, with assistance from DA investigators Marcus Rink and Steve Groppi, and Victim Coordinator Laura Medina.

The other individuals arrested in connection with this crime are:

  • Jamal Piper, 17, of Fort Worth
  • Hayden Bates-Vellmure, 18, of Fort Worth
  • Jordan Elijah Jackson, 20, of Fort Worth
  • Allan Gilbert, 18, of Dallas

Fort Worth police detectives used witness testimony and surveillance video to identify the suspects. Among the six victims injured in the shooting, four were children who received treatment at Cook Children's Hospital.
