Argentina Bakery, a popular pastry shop in Irving, is preparing to move to a new standalone building currently under construction along Highway 183. The new location will be at 3143 W. Airport Freeway, between Harvard Street North and Imperial Drive.
The bakery has outgrown its current space in the Irving Square shopping center on North Belt Line Road, where parking limitations and a small seating area have been ongoing challenges, especially after the opening of a neighboring Dollar Tree store.
The new building was designed by Plavans LLC, owned by Tatiana Plavans of Houston. According to Plavans, the design incorporates contemporary aesthetics with warm, inviting elements, featuring black steel, wooden slats, white stucco, and clay bricks. An elevated black metal roof, paired with cascading black metal columns that flow into striped pavement, will serve as the key architectural highlight for the landscaped rest area.
In June 2024, the Irving Planning and Zoning Commission approved a zoning change for the one-acre property. The new facility will also include a drive-thru, offering added convenience for customers, and will be shared with a Smoothie King location.
Argentina Bakery specializes in cakes and Argentinean pastries and also offers traditional staples such as empanadas, dulce de leche, yerba mate, dulce de batata, and a variety of Alfajores.
Construction is ongoing, with completion anticipated sometime this summer.
