A Tarrant County jury has found 44-year-old Cedric A. Shaw guilty of assault of a family member by impeding breath with a previous conviction and continuous family violence. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
The conviction stems from two separate incidents in 2017 where Shaw physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend, causing injuries to her head, chest, face, and arms.
During the trial, the jury learned that Shaw is a repeat offender with prior convictions for family violence in 2005 and 2015.
The case was prosecuted by Jaimie Jernigan and Jasmien Banks of the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
