A Tarrant County jury has found 20-year-old Aundra Dawayne Elbert Taylor guilty of Murder and sentenced him to life in prison for a fatal shooting at a southeast Fort Worth convenience store in 2023.
The verdict and sentence were delivered on Monday. During the trial, Assistant District Attorney Katie Owens described the crime to the jury as a "gang killing," stating, "He has absolutely no regard for human life. ... I'm asking you to protect this community."
The prosecution team of Katie Owens and Dani Wojciak, along with DA Criminal Investigators Steve Groppi and Marcus Rink, and Victim Coordinator Angela Stevens, secured the conviction.
The deadly incident occurred on April 10, 2023, at approximately 2:00 AM at Joe's Food Mart, located in the 4200 block of Miller Avenue. Taylor opened fire, striking three individuals. Two of the victims died as a result of their injuries: 18-year-old Marques Parker, who died at the scene, and 29-year-old Michael Sansom Jr., who succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head days later at a hospital.
The DA's Office commended the Fort Worth Police Department for their work in investigating this case and ensuring the safety of the community.
