A 28-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stabbing another man during a graduation ceremony at South Hills Elementary School.
Fort Worth police responded at approximately 11:33 a.m. on May 22 to a reported stabbing at the school, located at 3009 Bilglade Road. According to investigators, the incident occurred during a 5th grade graduation ceremony when two adults—believed to have had previous verbal altercations—began arguing behind the school.
During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper body before fleeing the scene on foot.
Officers arriving on scene received a description of the suspect from witnesses and located him a few blocks away. He was taken into custody without incident.
The victim was transported to a local hospital. His condition remains unknown.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Keshawn Fields and is currently charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Fort Worth police say the investigation is ongoing and charges may change.
Fort Worth ISD has made counseling services available to students, staff, and families affected by the incident.
