The Dallas County Criminal District Attorney's Office, led by District Attorney John Creuzot, proudly co-hosted the 2025 National Prosecutorial Data Summit on June 5-6, 2025. The event, organized in partnership with the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA) and the Deason Criminal Justice Reform Center at SMU Dedman School of Law, convened national leaders to explore the advanced application of data, artificial intelligence (AI), and analytics in prosecutorial work.
District Attorney John Creuzot emphasized the critical role of data in the office's mission to enhance public safety and community well-being. "Data-driven approaches are at the core of how we pursue justice, ensuring fairness, transparency, and efficiency in every case we handle," said DA Creuzot. "Our goal is to improve outcomes for all Dallas County residents by making evidence-based decisions that respect the dignity of everyone involved in the criminal justice system."
The two-day summit featured panel discussions and presentations focusing on how technology and data analytics can streamline case flow, boost office efficiency, and refine prosecutorial discretion. Discussions also covered crucial aspects such as security, privacy, and building capacity for innovation within prosecutor's offices across the nation.
David LaBahn, President of APA, underscored the necessity of this understanding: "Understanding how AI and Data intersect with justice is no longer optional -- it's essential. This summit helps prosecutors build the knowledge to lead with innovation, insight, and accountability, while enhancing the overall effectiveness of their offices."
The Dallas County DA's Office has a long-standing commitment to independent research aimed at evaluating and enhancing its processes and programs, reinforcing its dedication to evidence-based practices for crime reduction.
