FORT WORTH, Texas — Four people, including a Fort Worth police officer, were injured after a shooting near a large gathering in east Fort Worth on Saturday night, authorities said.
Fort Worth police were dispatched at approximately 9:10 p.m. on June 6 to a shooting in the 5200 block of East Rosedale Street. According to investigators, a large scheduled gathering was taking place at Stop Six Park when a suspect dressed in all black was seen emerging from an area between a nearby apartment community and a business strip center.
Police said the suspect fired a gun indiscriminately toward several people gathered in the area before fleeing on foot toward the apartment complex.
An adult woman was struck in the head by gunfire and transported to a local hospital. She was last reported to be in critical condition.
A Fort Worth police officer was sitting in a patrol vehicle parked along the street in the direction of the gunfire when a bullet passed through the vehicle's windshield. Shrapnel struck the officer in the neck. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities said a child was grazed in the head by a bullet and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An elderly woman was struck in the hip by gunfire and self-transported to a local hospital. Her injuries were also reported as non-life-threatening.
No arrests have been made, and no suspect is currently in custody.
The Fort Worth Police Department's Major Case Unit has been notified and is actively investigating the shooting.
