FORT WORTH, Texas - A Fort Worth woman has been charged with murder after investigators determined a man's death, initially believed to be the result of a medical emergency, was actually a homicide.

Fort Worth police were dispatched at approximately 3:06 a.m. on May 26, 2026, to a residence near the 5300 block of Bonnell Avenue in the Como neighborhood after a 911 caller reported a man who was not breathing.

When officers and Fort Worth Fire Department personnel arrived, they found an unresponsive man inside a bedroom. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, witness statements and the victim's extensive medical history initially led investigators to believe he may have suffered a medical event.

The victim was transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

Authorities later determined the death was suspicious after the medical examiner identified injuries and findings consistent with possible foul play. The victim was identified as 60-year-old Maurice Tshombe Hudson.

The medical examiner ruled Hudson's death a homicide and determined the cause of death was multi-modality asphyxia and blunt force injuries.

Investigators learned Hudson was in poor health, unable to use his left arm, and relied on a wheelchair for mobility.

On May 30, homicide detectives interviewed Hudson's girlfriend, identified as 40-year-old Tiertson Hudson, who allegedly admitted to strangling him during an argument.

According to an arrest affidavit, another person inside the residence heard yelling coming from the bedroom and kicked open a locked door. The witness reportedly found Maurice Hudson naked and unresponsive on the floor while Tiertson Hudson was lying on top of him.

Investigators said Tiertson Hudson told detectives the couple had been arguing and claimed Maurice Hudson had pulled a gun on her. She admitted scratching his face during the confrontation.

According to the affidavit, Tiertson Hudson told investigators she placed her forearm on Maurice Hudson's throat while he was lying on the bed and later placed a pillow over his face. Detectives said Maurice Hudson was yelling for help during the incident.

Despite her statements, Tiertson Hudson reportedly told detectives she did not believe she caused his death.

She also told investigators she was three months pregnant with Hudson's child.

On June 4, detectives obtained a murder warrant for Tiertson Hudson, and she was arrested the same day.

The case was submitted to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office on June 5.

Court records indicate Tiertson Hudson has previous arrests, including a criminal trespass charge in February 2025 and a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1/1-B in September 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing.
