Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 75 Years for Brutal Assault Caught on TXDOT Camera

On July 6, 2022, a Texas Department of Transportation camera captured 52-year-old Michael Stinson violently assaulting his girlfriend in Fort Worth. Fort Worth Police quickly responded to the scene and intervened.

According to the victim, Stinson beat, strangled, and sexually assaulted her while threatening to throw her off an overpass. He also used a permanent marker to write "whore" and "cheater" on her legs. The Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office noted Stinson’s prior history of violence against women.

Following his conviction, Stinson was sentenced to 75 years in prison. During sentencing, the judge told Stinson, “The violence against women stops today.”

The case was prosecuted by Darren De La Cruz and Melinda Hogan, with DA Investigator Dara DeWall and Victim Coordinator Carma Anderson assisting.
