A Tarrant County jury on Friday, June 13, 2025, found 32-year-old Dedrick Dewayne Davis guilty of family violence-aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury and subsequently sentenced him to Life in prison.
The conviction stems from an incident on November 2, 2023, when Davis physically assaulted his ex-girlfriend multiple times, including preventing her from breathing, and threatened her with a knife. He also prevented her from contacting 911. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was eventually dropped off at a hospital. It was not clarified by authorities whether Davis or another individual transported her to the hospital. While at the hospital, she was able to seek help from staff and police officers.
Davis has previous convictions for domestic violence. Upon his arrest, he was charged with a litany of offenses, including:
- Assault Intentionally/Recklessly Impeding Breath/Circulation Family Member - Previous Conviction/Assault on a Family Member
