A Tarrant County jury on June 13, 2025, found 37-year-old David Elias Barrera of Navasota, TX, guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
The charges stem from a 2018 incident in which Barrera blindfolded and sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl who was a family member. The crime came to light in September 2023 when another family member reported the abuse.
The case was investigated by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in coordination with the Navasota Police Department.
Prosecutors Samantha Fant and Mary Martin led the case for the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. DA Investigator Briant Thomas and Victim Coordinator Angela Stevens also assisted throughout the prosecution.
Barrera was taken into custody immediately following the jury’s decision.
