Dedication Ceremony Set to Celebrate Extension of Irving's Campion Trails

The City of Irving will celebrate the latest extensions of Campión Trails with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony March 21 at 10 a.m. at Trinity View Park-South, 2221 E. Highway 356. City of Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne, Councilman Lewis Patrick, City Manager Tommy Gonzalez and Capital Improvements Director Casey Tate will be joined by Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Elba Garcia for the celebration. Following the ceremony, attendees will enjoy refreshments and free golf cart tours of the newly dedicated trails.

Valued at $1.5 million, the newest additions to Campión Trails were completely grant funded through a partnership between the City of Irving and Dallas County. The latest expansions at Campión Trails include extensions from Twin Wells Park to Trinity View Park, and from Trinity View Park into River Hills Park. With the new additions, Irving’s Campión Trails offers walkers, runners, cyclists and equestrian riders 10.5 miles of improved open space, with 4 miles on the south end and 6.5 miles on the north end. When the master-planned greenbelt is completed, it will cover a total of 22 miles.

“Seeing the growth and expansion of Campión Trails has been an exciting sign of progress for Irving and the North Texas region,” said Councilman Dennis Webb. “An innumerable amount of people will benefit from Irving’s partnership with Dallas County to shore up Campión Trails and provide more outdoor space for public use.”

Originally planned as a quality-of-life amenity for Irving residents, Campión Trails has become a regional destination that has attracted thousands of visitors, and it also has been the site for several charitable walking and fun run events. Public access to Campión Trails and its amenities is available daily from sunrise to sunset.
