The City of Irving’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Community Fest event March 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Senter Park Recreation Center, 901 S. Senter Road. In conjunction with Community Fest, the Housing and Human Services Department will host the Raising the Roof Housing Fair for residents interested in renovating or purchasing a home in Irving.
“The Parks and Recreation Department does an exceptional job of bringing residents and businesses together for Community Fest each year,” said City Manager Tommy Gonzalez. “What’s so special about Community Fest is that the event provides residents with a convenient opportunity to learn more about local businesses and programs available through various city departments in one place, in a family-friendly atmosphere.”
As part of the housing fair, English- and Spanish-speaking representatives from lending institutions will be on-site to provide prospective home buyers with leads and information. This year’s event will feature 75 vendors who will provide food, games, and local entertainers, as well as fun activities for children, including bounce houses and balloon artists.
“We’re expecting this year’s Community Fest to be just as successful as in years past when we have had more than 1,500 people in attendance,” said Parks and Recreation Department Director Ray Cerda. “Community Fest is always a free event, and it’s just a fun way for families to experience the best of what Irving has to offer.”
