A man was fatally shot by a Cedar Hill police officer Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025, following a vehicle and foot pursuit that began in Cedar Hill and ended in Dallas.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., Cedar Hill Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 700 block of Highway 67. The driver, believed to be impaired, refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit into the City of Dallas.
The chase ended at about 2:16 p.m. near Town Creek Drive and Glen Oaks Boulevard, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area. During the foot chase, one officer discharged his firearm, striking the suspect.
Officers immediately provided medical aid and carried the individual to a nearby roadway to meet emergency responders. The suspect, described only as a white male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been confirmed.
No officers were injured in the incident. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, per department protocol.
The Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, with oversight from the Dallas County Public Integrity Division, is leading the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
