Details Released on Arrest of Carrollton Police Officer in Irving for Sexual Assault

Wes Masters Melton

An off-duty Carrollton Police Department officer, Wes Masters Melton, 42, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, June 21st, following a domestic disturbance call at the Omni Las Colinas Hotel in Irving. Melton has been charged with sexual assault (rape).

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim dialed 911, reporting that Melton had "trapped her in the bedroom." Melton also spoke to dispatchers, stating the victim was "accusing him of rape."

Upon arrival, an Irving Police officer spoke with the victim, who alleged that after returning from the pool, Melton initiated an anal sexual encounter in their hotel bathroom without her consent, despite her repeatedly saying "no." The victim reported experiencing pain and began screaming from inside the bathroom.

Melton reportedly confessed to a sexual encounter, but denied it was anal. He also stated that he "never heard no and that [the victim] feels like she said no, but he did not recall." He added, "whatever she says, that's what she believes and if I go to jail, I go to jail."

Based on the accounts, it was determined that Melton intentionally or knowingly sexually assaulted the victim without her consent. He was arrested and charged accordingly.

The Carrollton Police Department issued a news release confirming Melton is a police officer who joined the department in January 2024 and is currently assigned to Patrol. He has been placed on administrative leave pending investigations by both the Irving Police Department and Carrollton Police Department's Internal Affairs.

After being booked into the Irving Jail, Melton was transferred to the Dallas County Jail for processing and bonded out on June 22nd. Melton is also identified as one of the founders of the Legendary Black Belt Academy in Richardson.
